structures. During multi-stage cold heading, materials endure multi-directional compression and heavy deformation. Ordinary wire tends to crack, produce surface fuzzing and dimensional deviation, and accelerates die consumption, which has long been a bottleneck in the industry.
Specializing in cold heading steel wire, Wuxi Aotian establishes dedicated wire matching schemes for special-shaped parts. At the early stage of projects, our technical team analyzes part drawings, forming procedures, deformation ratio and product strength grade, to reversely deduce steel grade, metallographic structure and mechanical properties of wire. Suitable base materials including 10B21, SWCH series, SCM420 are selected accordingly. In production, we strictly control billet refining, wire drawing reduction, phosphating & saponification and polymer lubrication coating processes to ensure uniform cross-section microstructure, clean surface and superior cold plastic deformability.
For different high-difficulty special-shaped parts, Aotian
flexibly adjusts wire hardness, elongation and surface friction
coefficient to avoid local stress concentration in forming. This significantly reduces defect rates of cracking and peeling, and extends die service life. From prototype trial stamping to bulk delivery, we follow up forming feedback continuously and optimize wire parameters to achieve optimal compatibility between wire material and cold heading process for special-shaped parts.
