From January to March 2024, the national fixed asset investment (excluding rural households) was 10,004.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.5% (calculated on a comparable basis, see Note 7 for details), and the growth rate was 0.3 percentage points faster than that from January to February. Among them, manufacturing investment increased by 9.9%, and the growth rate accelerated by 0.5 percentage points; infrastructure investment (excluding electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industries) increased by 6.5%, and the growth rate accelerated by 0.2 percentage points. From a month-on-month perspective, fixed asset investment (excluding farmers) increased by 0.14% in March. From January to March 2024, private fixed asset investment was 5,159.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.5%.
In terms of industries, the investment in the primary industry was 180.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.0%; the investment in the secondary industry was 3,321.3 billion yuan, an increase of 13.4%; the investment in the tertiary industry was 6,502.5 billion yuan, an increase of 0.8%.
In the secondary industry, industrial investment increased by 13.4% year-on-year. Among them, investment in the mining industry increased by 18.5%, and investment in the electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry increased by 29.1%.
In the tertiary industry, investment in the railway transportation industry increased by 17.6% year-on-year, that in the air transportation industry increased by 35.4%, and that in the water conservancy management industry increased by 13.9%.
Looking at different regions, investment in the eastern region increased by 5.7% year-on-year, investment in the central region increased by 4.1%, investment in the western region increased by 1.4%, and investment in the northeastern region increased by 9.6%.
In terms of registration types, investment by domestic enterprises increased by 4.4% year-on-year, investment by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan enterprises increased by 7.1%, and investment by foreign enterprises decreased by 10.4%.
