From January to July, the total profits of industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide reached 3,943.98 billion yuan, down 15.5% year on year and 1.3 percentage points narrower than that of the first six months of the year (calculated on a comparable basis).

The total profit of state-owned holding enterprises was 1,380.59 billion yuan, down 20.3% year on year; The total profits of joint-stock enterprises reached 2,883.56 billion yuan, down 16.6 percent; The total profit of enterprises invested by foreign investors and those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan reached 935.57 billion yuan, down 12.4 percent; The total profit of private enterprises was 1,022.66 billion yuan, down 10.7%.

The total profit of mining industry was 782.74 billion yuan, down 21.0% year-on-year; The total profit of the manufacturing industry was 2,769.42 billion yuan, down 18.4%; The total profit of the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water reached 391.82 billion yuan, an increase of 38.0%.

Among the 41 industrial categories, the total profit of 13 industries increased year-on-year, and 28 industries decreased. The profits of the main industries are as follows: The total profit of the electricity and heat production and supply industry increased by 51.2% year-on-year, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 33.7%, the general equipment manufacturing industry increased by 14.5%, the special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 2.1%, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 1.0%, the oil and gas mining industry decreased by 11.4%, and the textile industry decreased by 20.3%. The coal mining and washing industry fell by 26.2 percent; the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry fell by 26.4 percent; the non-metallic mineral products industry fell by 28.8 percent; the agricultural and sideline food processing industry fell by 32.6 percent; the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry fell by 36.7 percent; and the manufacturing of chemical raw materials and chemical products fell by 54.3 percent. Oil, coal and other fuel processing industry fell by 87.0%, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry fell by 90.5%.
