Ministry of Commerce spokesman He Yadong recently responded to the European Commission's anti-subsidy investigation of China's electric vehicles at a press conference. He pointed out that the Commission's sampling criteria are not compliant, the process is not transparent, the results are unfair, and may violate WTO rules and EU law. This discriminatory selection is unfair to Chinese electric vehicle companies and could significantly skew the findings. He stressed China's disappointment and dissatisfaction, and urged the European side to abide by rules and protect the rights and interests of enterprises. Recently, He Yadong, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, responded to the controversy of the European Commission's anti-subsidy investigation into China's electric vehicles at a press conference. He Yadong pointed out that the European Commission did not follow formal sampling standards in the investigation, choosing three local Chinese companies as sample objects, and its practice was not compliant, transparent and unfair. This practice is considered a discriminatory choice that may violate World Trade Organization rules and EU law, significantly distorting the subsidy findings.

At the meeting, a reporter mentioned that the EU side changed the usual practice in the sampling process, causing dissatisfaction in the industry. In this regard, He Yadong said that the Chinese side noted that the European Commission did not use the representative criterion of the largest export volume when sampling, but only selected three Chinese enterprises. In addition, the European Commission excluded the EU member States with the highest production and sales in the sample of EU industries, which is against the norm, and the sample results cannot represent the objective situation of the industry in the Union. He Yadong also mentioned that despite the clear opposition of EU member states, the European Commission has launched its own anti-subsidy investigation and claimed that Chinese electric vehicles threaten to cause damage to the EU electric vehicle industry, completely ignoring the close cooperation between the Chinese and European automotive industries. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce stressed that the Chinese industry is strongly disappointed and dissatisfied with the European Commission's presetting of the investigation results and the practice of underhand manipulation. China urges the EU side to strictly abide by WTO rules and EU laws, correct its wrong practices as soon as possible, ensure the openness, fairness, fairness and compliance of the investigation, and fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of relevant companies.
