The stability of steel structures depends largely on the quality and performance of bolts. From the perspective of bolt selection, surface treatment technology has always been a hot topic. When purchasing bolts, we will find that some bolts have different surface treatments. Why is this? This article will analyze the bolt surface treatment methods in detail.

hot dip galvanizing

Hot-dip galvanizing technology is a common bolt surface treatment method, which usually provides good corrosion resistance and rust prevention for the steel matrix. Using this technology, we can cover the bolt surface with a layer of zinc coating to protect the bolt surface. In addition, the zinc coating can also provide sacrificial protection to the bolts, that is, when corroding, they will be corroded first, thereby extending the service life of the bolts.

hot dip aluminized

Unlike hot-dip galvanizing technology, hot-dip aluminizing technology is a relatively new bolt surface treatment method. Using this technology, a layer of aluminum coating can be covered on the bolt surface to protect the bolt surface. Compared with hot-dip galvanizing technology, hot-dip aluminum plating technology has better corrosion resistance and can withstand higher temperatures and harsher climate environments. At the same time, aluminum plating technology can also provide better hardness and strength for steel bolts, thereby increasing the quality and performance of the bolts.

Dacromet

Dacromet is a zinc-aluminum composite material that is generally coated on the surface of bolts. Dacromet coating has very good anti-corrosion properties, which can greatly extend the service life of bolts. At the same time, it has good tolerance to harsh environments such as high temperature and salt water. In addition, Dacromet coating also has the advantages of extremely high adhesion, high permeability, high friction reduction and no environmental pollution.

Electro galvanized

Electro-galvanizing technology has been widely used in bolt surface treatment because it can provide good anti-corrosion and anti-rust capabilities for steel bolts. Using electro-galvanizing technology, we can cover the surface of the bolt with a layer of zinc coating. This coating can effectively resist corrosion from seawater, acid rain, air pollution and other factors, thereby extending the service life of the bolt.

Cadmium plating

Cadmium plating is a traditional bolt surface treatment method. By covering the bolt surface with a cadmium film, the corrosion resistance of the bolt can be greatly enhanced. However, due to high costs and serious environmental pollution, galvanizing has been replaced by more environmentally friendly and affordable surface treatment methods, such as hot-dip galvanizing and Dacromet.

PTFE

PTFE coating is a special polymer coating. By coating a thin film on the surface of the bolt, the surface of the bolt can have very good anti-stick and corrosion resistance. The PTFE coating has a very low friction coefficient and excellent anti-wear properties. It can also resist erosion by acid rain, seawater and other factors. In bolt surface treatment, PTFE coating is usually used in situations with special requirements, such as pneumatic equipment that requires high precision and high corrosion resistance.

Xylan

Xylan coating is a bolt surface treatment containing fluoropolymer. Unlike PTFE coatings, Xylan coatings usually contain a variety of different lubricants and penetrating agents, which can provide more detailed protection for the bolt surface. Xylan coating has the advantages of good lubricity, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high friction reduction, and is widely used in applications that require high precision and high corrosion resistance.

Generally speaking, the choice of bolt surface treatment technology should be based on actual needs and usage situations. By understanding different surface treatment methods, we can more accurately choose products that suit our needs, thereby ensuring the stability and durability of the steel structure.
