SWCH45K is a widely used medium-carbon cold heading wire
grade for fasteners and cold forged special-shaped parts,
complying with Japanese standard JIS G3539 for carbon steel cold heading wire. With medium carbon content, SWCH45K obtains excellent cold formability and quenching & tempering potential after wire drawing and phosphating & saponification surface treatment. It is suitable for manufacturing Class 8.8 bolts, screws, pins and various mechanical special-shaped components.
Compared with low-carbon cold heading wire, SWCH45K achieves higher strength after heat treatment. Compared with higher-grade medium carbon wire, it owns better plasticity during cold working and lower risk of cracking during forming, balancing formability and final product strength.
During production, Aotian strictly controls the metallographic structure, decarburization layer, dimensional tolerance and surface quality of SWCH45K steel wire. The stable phosphating and saponification lubrication layer effectively reduces wear on cold heading dies, and minimizes defects such as surface peeling, scratching and bursting. It is ideal for mass automatic cold heading forming.
