Set screws are used to fix the relative positions of machine parts. Screw the set screw into the screw hole of the part to be tightened, and press one end of it on the surface of the other part, that is, fix the front part on the back part.

Set screws are usually made of steel or stainless steel, and their end shapes are tapered, concave, flat, cylindrical, and stepped. The end of the set screw with tapered or concave end is directly tightened to the part, which is generally used in places where it is not often disassembled after installation; the end of the flat set screw is smooth, and the surface of the part is not damaged after tightening, and is used for frequent adjustment of the position. Only small loads can be transmitted at the connection; The cylinder-end set screws are used for fixed positions that need to be adjusted frequently. Can withstand larger loads, but the anti-loose performance is poor, and anti-loose measures should be taken when fixing; Set screws are suitable for fixing parts with large wall thickness.
