After proper heat treatment or cold drawing hardening, cold drawn wires have high strength and hardness, high elastic apex and fatigue apex (especially notched fatigue apex). The cutting performance is acceptable, but the welding performance and cold plasticity are poor. Due to the high carbon content, water quenching is prone to cracks, so double liquid quenching (water quenching + oil cooling) is often used, and oil quenching is mostly used for small cross-section parts. This kind of steel is generally used in the state of tempering at medium temperature or surface quenching after quenching. Mainly used to make spring replacement wear-resistant parts. Carbon tool steel wire is a high-carbon steel wire with basically no alloying elements added. It is also a steel type with low cost, good cold and hot workability, and a wide range of applications among tool steel wires. The spring steel wire includes high carbon steel wire, which is one of the spring steel wires. Anything that can be used as a spring can be called a spring steel wire, and high carbon means a higher carbon content.

Cold drawn wire is used more in building materials, and the testing standards for cold drawn wire are also different. The strength of cold drawn wire is high and it can be used in many ways. The most used is prestressed tendons. Where plasticity is not required, but strength is only required, such steel can be used.
