Chile Makes Preliminary Anti-dumping Ruling On Chinese Steel Bars

On March 27, 2024, the Chilean National Commission for Investigating Price Distortions of Imported Commodities issued an announcement in the official gazette, deciding to ban steel rods originating in China used to manufacture grinding balls with a diameter of less than 4 inches (Spanish: Barras para bolas de acero forjadas para moliendaconvencional de diámetro inferior a 4 pulgadas) made a preliminary anti-dumping ruling: the preliminary ruling was that the provisional anti-dumping duty was 10.4% for Baowu JFE Special Steel Co., Ltd., and 10.4% for Daye Special Steel Co., Ltd. The provisional anti-dumping duties of Daye Special Steel Co., Ltd. are 10.3%, the provisional anti-dumping duties of Dongbei Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. are 19.8%, and the provisional anti-dumping duties of other Chinese companies involved are 19.8 %. The Chilean tax number of the product involved is 7228.3000. The announcement will take effect from the date of issuance. The temporary anti-dumping measures will be effective for no more than 4 months and will terminate on the date of the final measures.

On December 9, 2023, Chile independently launched an anti-dumping investigation into steel rods originating in China and used to make grinding balls with a diameter of less than 4 inches.
